This week on Alcohollywood, we delve into the seedy underbelly of Korean cinema with Chan-wook Park’s critically acclaimed revenge thriller Oldboy! Listen in as Jared and Clint discuss metaphor, the financial means of maniacal villains, and the difference between man and beast. oldboy cocktail2 parts sake (sweet to medium-dry recommended)

1 part blackberry brandy

3 parts carrot juice

dash of ground ginger

Shake well and pour over ice.

DRINKING RULES FOR OLDBOY:

  1. Whenever time is mentioned (in dialogue or on clocks/watches)
  2. Anytime Oh Dae-su asks a question
  3. Every time the color red is dominant in the scene (in clothing, walls, decor, etc.)

FINISH YOUR DRINK WHEN:

Mi-do says, “I love you, Dae-su!”

    To be fair though, if you made people drink that over and over you’d be responsible for a lot of vomiting!
