The Fifth Element (1997)

fifth element

Still haven’t had enough Bruce Willis drinking game goodness? This week on Alcohollywood, we’re checking out the 1997 gonzo sci-fi favorite The Fifth Element. Directed by Luc (La Femme Nikita/The Professional) Besson, this elaborately designed, infectiously fun flick brings us another great crazy Gary Oldman performance, homages to Blade Runner, Alien and French comic books, and the breakout performances of Milla Jovovich and Chris Tucker (for better or worse).

This episode, Clint and Jared slug back the Big Badda-Boom as we ask the questions that this movie begs of us: How does Leeloo learn written English so quickly? Is Ruby Rhod hilariously campy or horrendously irritating? What is everyone wearing? Grab your multipass and check out our review/drinking game of The Fifth Element!

NOTE: This episode comes courtesy of a user request by listener D-Sane. Thanks, D-Sane, and we hope you like the show!

  1. Whenever you see a new, ridiculous Jean-Paul Gaulthier costume
  2. Every time someone says the word “perfect”
  3. Stammering/stuttering/general nervousness

FINISH YOUR DRINK WHEN:

Zorg (Gary Oldman) laughs, then weeps, then meekly cries, “They’re not here!”

Tune in next week, when we finally tackle our first sports film with the James Caan/Billy Dee Williams teakjerker Brian’s Song, arguably the most successful made-for-TV movie of all time!
